Jul. 23--A Naval Station Norfolk-based sailor serving on the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier died Sunday night when he jumped from a Florida bridge.

The carrier, also based in Norfolk, is underway this week, participating in a training exercise off the East Coast.

The sailor, 22-year-old Adam Cline, jumped from a bridge "whether being funny or just trying to have a good time," another sailor told a Fox TV reporter in Florida.

Cline had been granted liberty from the ship, which had made a port call in Fort Lauderdale.
