Virtual reality comes home with the summer release of Virtual Boy, Nintendo of America's battery-operated personal game system. But getting consumers to open their doors to it may not be easy.
With an advertising budget in the neighborhood of 820 million - $3 million more than the company spent in introducing Donkey Kong Country - Nintendo plans to launch Virtual Boy in late August, about two months before its Ultra 64 machine comes to market. Virtual Boy is a 32-bit system that uses two high-resolution mirror-scanning LED displays to produce 3-D effects.
