High-end auctions provide this city with the perfect combination of two favourite subjects: art and money. The prices paid for works by Andy Warhol this year have set off a stream of gossip that will surely continue all summer among New Yorkers, whether they are trapped in steamy Manhattan, lounging beachside in the Hamptons or tending their gardens upstate.
