Waddesdon Manor is the only place in the world where the public can see a great Rothschild house with its treasures intact, but it is by no means a closed museum. Michael Hall talks to Lord Rothschild about his collecting, which almost yearly has made major additions to Waddesdon, ranging from a state portrait of Louis XVI to contemporary sculpture
