PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, Jul. 23, 2007 (IPS/GIN) -- Leaders of the Caribbean Community appear pleased by Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper's recent six-day trip to the Americas and especially to the Caribbean.
Harper has acknowledged that Canada has neglected the Caribbean for some time, and he appears to be following the lead of countries such as the United States and Britain, which over the years have sought closer trade and economic ties with the Caribbean region, which is struggling to survive in a changing global environment.
