When equity analyst Chris Quilty makes the case to investors for Teledyne Technologies Inc. he likens the Los Angeles-based electronics components maker to another company whose name is recognizable but most people know little about--the German chemical maker BASF.
BASF's catchy ad slogan, "We don't make the products you buy, we make the products you buy better," could easily be applied to Teledyne.
