I recall one of the first Buddhist meetings I attended with the Soka Gakkai in 1976. I was living in Okinawa, Japan, and was invited to attend a meeting with the international group. I sat on the floor in a living room with approximately 15 other people.
The meeting began with everyone chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo and then reciting a portion of the Lotus Sutra (the oral teachings of the Buddha). A lively dialogue followed the chanting session.
