The common search engine
Search engines should use a common method of finding results, says search company Webfetch, after new research it commissioned found that different search engines can produce wildly different results. The study found that overlap in first-page results is less than one per cent across the four major search engines -- Google, Yahoo, MSN and Ask -- because they use different means to rank pages. The findings also suggest that the difference between the results the search engines throw up has increased in the past two years.
