Paques B.V. (Balk, Netherlands; edlinks.che.com/6897-535) has developed a cost-effective biological process (flowsheet) for removing phosphates and nitrogen from wastewater. The first commercial installation to use the new process officially opened last month at Aviko (Steenseren, Netherlands), where it is treating 3,000 [m.sup.3]/d of wastewater from potato processing. The plant is owned and operated by Waterstromen B.V. (Lochem; Netherlands).
