Dueling tabloids make advertising gains
The new york post and the New York Daily News continue to fight their vicious tabloid war. But they're not doing so badly compared with papers across the nation, which are reeling from a precipitous drop in advertising.
Through May of this year, advertising linage in the News jumped 4% over the same period last year, to 635,503 inches, according to TNS Media Intelligence. The Post's was up 3%, to 325,997 inches.
A spokeswoman for the News says the gains have been in the retail and national advertising categories. Post executives could not be reached for comment.
