IRVINE, Calif., March 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Aggressively seeking to enlarge its share of the state's home equity financing market, Sanwa Bank California today said it will offer a home equity loan with an initial start rate of 6.40 percent for the first six months (8.19 percent APR), one of the lowest initial interest rates available from any major bank.

The loan, which is available as both a variable-rate or fixed-rate loan, can range from $5,000 to $150,000 based on a home's equity.
