Jul. 29--MIDDLETON, Wis. -- The La Crosse American Legion baseball team will have to win twice today if it wants to play in the Class AAA state tournament.
La Crosse split two games Saturday and will have to beat the Madison Lakers two times to win the double-elimination Middleton regional.
The Lakers beat La Crosse 9-6 before La Crosse stayed alive with a 14-10 victory over Sun Prairie.
"Hopefully, we can use one or two pitchers and win the first game," La Crosse coach Andy Christensen said, "and then use a little here and a little there from everyone else in the second."
