Jul. 29--Musikfest has always been a world of music. This year's edition, the 24th, is the first one to actually showcase world music. Virtually everything, from the "One World, Many Rhythms" theme to a new passport contest involving 24 foreign acts, is designed to make visitors learn more about more countries and more about continental/
subcontinental platzes.
The African diaspora: Two years ago the festival focused on Native Americans, its first wraparound theme. There were traditional dancers and radical musicians, a tribal symposium and a train filled with American Indian art works.
