Jul. 29--When Drew Carey becomes host of The Price Is Right this fall, he won't exactly be entering unknown territory.
He hosted Whose Line Is It Anyway? an improv show with TV-game elements, and the show remains lively and funny in reruns. He hosted Play for a Billion, a 2003 special, for the old WB network, although he admitted at the time he did it to get more publicity for his then-struggling (and now departed) ABC sitcom. And it was apparently his hosting of a pilot for Power of 10, a game show premiering Aug. 7 on CBS, that led to the Price Is Right gig.
But it's one thing to host a game show here and there, and ...
