Jul. 30--Jason Belkin helped pay his way through college by working part-time as a manager at McDonald's outlets on Long Island.

In the classroom at New York University, he studied journalism and public relations and dreamed of becoming a foreign correspondent.

In the fast-food restaurants in Bethpage and nearby communities, he learned more down-to-earth lessons -- scheduling staff, managing inventory, keeping the kitchen clean.
