MILAN - Furla is sharpening its focus on fashion to fuel footwear sales.

Chairman Giovanna Furlanetto said she hopes to boost the shoe division, which accounts for 8 percent of sales, with the introduction of more trend-right collections and a series of designer collaborations.

Furlanetto has already tapped three designers - two Americans and one Russian - to partner with the firm. She declined to reveal the names of the designers, as they will be first featured in Vogue Italia in September and products will be shown during Milan Fashion Week that month.
