THE Western Cape's education recovery plan, which is to include Saturday classes, is intended to assist pupils who lost valuable classroom time during the month-long strike - not to make up money teachers lost during their strike.
Provincial education spokesperson Gert Witbooi said this yesterday in response to statements by Cosatu and the SA Democratic Teachers' Union (Sadtu) expressing dissatisfaction with the department's recovery plan
Sadtu said it and the department had yet to agree on a stipend for teachers who volunteered to teach on Saturdays.
