Johannesburg - Moody's Investors Service, the international ratings agency, is spreading its coverage into South Africa's asset management funds.
Christos Costandinides, an assistant vice-president and analyst at Moody's, said last week that ratings would apply to fixed-income funds - funds whose investors receive interest payment on their investment, such as money market and bond funds. Moody's had rated European fixed-income funds for the past 20 years. Money market fund structures in South Africa were comparable to those in Europe and the US.
