Aug. 1--ST. PETERSBURG -- Pinellas County's transit agency wants to introduce a high-speed bus service along U.S. 19 in the northern part of the county.
Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority said its Bus Rapid Transit service from Tarpon Springs to Ulmerton Road in Largo could be running in two years providing it gets approval by December for a $20 million federal funding request.
If all goes well, the agency could expand the service to other routes, including downtown St. Petersburg to the Tyrone Square mall in northwest St. Petersburg.
