Fixing Rs 5 as MRP per pay channel temporary, TRAI tells SC
New Delhi, Aug 1 (PTI) -- Broadcast regulator TRAI has told the Supreme Court that the objective behind fixing a ceiling on maximum retail price of pay channels was to facilitate smooth roll out of the new cable TV delivery system CAS.
In its affidavit filed before the court, it said fixing Rs 5 as the maximum subscription fee a month per pay channel under Conditional Access System was temporary and only for a limited period till the market matured and consumers realised the advantages of the CAS regime.
