The date 07/07/07 was a lucky day for the organizers of the Live Earth event: They pulled off what turned out to be the largest global entertainment event in history.

On that Saturday, for about 24 hours, Live Earth mounted eight celebrity-studded concerts on seven continents that were attended by hundreds of thousands and watched on TV and online by two billion others, according to the promoters.
