NEW YORK -- Fitch Ratings has assigned an international scale insurer financial strength (IFS) rating of 'BBB-' to El Pacifico Vida Compania de Seguros y Reaseguros (Pacifico Vida). The Rating Outlook is Stable.
Pacifico Vida's rating reflects its controlled loss ratio, above average profitability, and a conservative asset and liability management. Strong distribution channels and adequate market share and business diversification also benefits Pacifico Vida rating. The rating also considers an expense ratio that is still high by regional standards, sizable concentration in Peruvian sovereign debt and significant market competition based in aggressive pricing.
