Aug. 1--R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co. today reported a $69.4 million net loss in the second quarter, due to two charges.

The loss of 32 cents a share compares to net profits of $125.2 million (57 cents a share) in the 2006 quarter. Sales improved to $2.8 billion, up 23.0 percent.

Chicago-based Donnelley blamed the red ink on pre-tax charges of $330.5 million for impairment (writing off the trade names of acquired firms Moore Wallace, OfficeTiger and others) and for restructuring.
