Aug. 2--Probably the hardest concept for non-Hoosiers to get their arms around is the idea that Indiana could be the home to a major international wine competition.
But it is, and spectacularly so. In 2006, the 34-year-old Indy International Wine Competition was the largest in the country, topping anything from California, with 3,800 wines entered from 17 countries.
After all, you can ship wine for judging anywhere, so why not the massive Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis?
