Aug. 2--Assemblyman Guy Houston, R-San Ramon, will announce today plans to run for the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors in 2008 in a surprising political move that reflects the domino effects of term limits in California.
Houston, who terms out of the Legislature next year, will run against one-term Supervisor Mary Piepho of Discovery Bay, a woman who once worked in the state lawmaker's office.
The announcement ends speculation that Houston would run in the 2008 GOP primary for the congressional nomination in a seat held by Rep. Jerry McNerney, D-Pleasanton.
