Aug. 2--Kelly Cozier-Diaz has no worries about security when she drops off her son at his day-care center in Plantation. When it comes to peace of mind, her fingerprint has made a world of difference.
Biometrics, the Mission: Impossible technology that makes positive identification by scanning a unique body characteristic, such as a fingerprint or iris of the eye, is being used in at least two Broward County day-care centers.
"Parents love it," said Renee Johnson, district manager of Tutor Time Child Care, which uses the biometric system in its centers at Pembroke Pines and Plantation. "They're like, 'This is technology beyond belief.' ...
