Aug. 2--TAMPA -- Hillsborough County commissioners on Wednesday backed a $500 million plan to shore up dozens of sagging roads and intersections, but not before commission Chairman Jim Norman suggested the plan goes too far.
The package spends millions over five years in Hillsborough County, Tampa, Temple Terrace and Plant City, and is based on recommendations from a task force created by the commission in January.
"We all recognize that tackling this problem is in the community's best interests," Commissioner Ken Hagan said minutes before fellow commissioners Norman and Brian Blair took turns grilling county budget experts. ...
