Police investigate E.V. hate crime: Black family in Ahwatukee Foothills finds racial slurs, symbols scrawled on driveway.

Aug. 2--Phoenix police are investigating a hate crime in Ahwatukee Foothills after a black family woke up to find racial slurs and symbols written all over their driveway.

"I just went kind of numb," said Karen Terry, who rents the home near 46th Place and Ray Road. "I think because I was in disbelief."

The 42-year-old woman said the crime must have happened while her family was sleeping. The derogatory drawings on the driveway, which Terry discovered Saturday morning, included chickens, watermelons and a swastika. The vandal or vandals also wrote racial slurs and two names: Eric Mills and Bob Saget.
