Aug. 3--The 11th annual Government Procurement Conference is Wednesday at the Arlington Convention Center, 1501 Ballpark Way.
The conference, which runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., is hosted by the University of Texas at Arlington Cross Timbers Procurement Center.
The conference helps small and minority businesses learn how to get government and corporate contracts.
"Government, its prime contractors and public sector agencies spend billions of dollars on supplies and services from the private sector," said UTA's Deborreh Wallace.
"In 2006 alone, over $27 billion worth of contract awards went to Texas firms.
