Aug. 3--ALBANY -- Two Senate Republicans introduced legislation to ban the use of state aircraft for political trips after Senate Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno abruptly put the brakes on using helicopters and State Police for his travels.

The bill was introduced Tuesday by Sen. George Winner, R-Elmira, and Sen. Andrew Lanza, R-Staten Island.

The legislation arrived Tuesday after Bruno, R-Brunswick, told State Police he is discontinuing his use of State Police drivers for ground transportation and ceased using state helicopters for trips to Manhattan.
