A 23-year-old Syracuse man was shot in the right shoulder Thursday night while walking near South Avenue, city police said.
Jermaine Barnum, of Rich Street, told investigators someone in a red sedan shot at him several times about 9:06 p.m. as he walked down Sterling Avenue near his home, Lt. Joe Cecile said.
Barnum was taken by a private vehicle to University Hospital. He was conscious and alert, Cecile said.
Police were looking for the assailant.
