COLUMN: PATRIOTS TRAINING CAMP
FOXBORO - Special teams was the theme of yesterday's morning workout.
The Patriots devoted much of their efforts during the 90-minute session to returning and defending kickoffs and punts. Touching all the bases, the art of the on-side kick was even addressed.
"We worked on all of those phases of the game at a good tempo with the officials out there," coach Bill Belichick said. "We all know how important the kicking game is."
The 6,000 or so sun-baked fans and nearly all of the Patriot players, coaches, trainers and equipment guys were focused on Bam Childress fielding punts ...
