Tomorrow's race will be on the Berg River and between Gouda Bridge and Bridgetown.
This 32km section is an excellent opening test for paddlers preparing for the Breede Marathon later this month, as combined with the full river predicted, it will push the skills of the crews to the limit as they negotiate such obstacles as the Black Rock Rapid, the infamous Ysterpen Rapid, the Drie Gewels Weir and the notorious channels between the weir and Bridgetown.
The favourites at the moment must be the Matie pairing of Heindrich Schloms and Ernest van Riet. No known women's crews have been forthcoming so far this season, but look out for crews that include Alexa ...
