Article: This race is to the sturdiest: Upcoming Antique Car Run offers enthusiasts a test of both road and time.

Byline: Bob Shaw

Aug. 4--The weaknesses make it lovable.

An ordinary bicycle could beat it in a race. It has no brake lights, no speedometer and two forward gears. It has no generator but runs on batteries like a flashlight.

Yet, when Floyd Jaehnert gazes at his 1908 Model S Ford, you can see the love in his eyes. The car, which he named Phoebe, is the great-great-grandmother of the cars that changed America.

He plans to drive it, at a top speed of 25 mph, Aug. 11 in one of the quirkiest car rallies in the Midwest, the 21st annual Antique Car Run.
