The acquittal a year ago of three Milwaukee police officers charged with beating and torturing a black man, Frank Jude Jr., brought thousands of citizens - black, brown and white - marching down Wisconsin Avenue demanding justice.
But there wasn't any dancing in the streets last week when the same three police officers were convicted of the crime in federal court.
There was relief that Milwaukee wasn't embarrassed by another acquittal, but no particular cause for celebration just because the criminal justice system convicted participants in a brutal crime.
That's what the criminal justice system is supposed to do. ...
