Aug. 5--Is Cracker a dirty word?
I had never heard that term used to describe a person until I moved to Florida, but after inquiring a bit I discovered I'd certainly known Louisiana versions of the same growing up in a rural part of that state.
They may not be called Crackers in Louisiana, but there's an entire culture of independent, Southern-proud white people -- not Cajuns at all -- who could crash any Florida Cracker reunion without raising suspicion.
