Aug. 5--CHIBA -- Before Saturday's game against the Chiba Lotte Marines, Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters manager Trey Hillman said he wanted a better performance out of Satoru Kanemura than he had seen in the pitcher's last two starts.

What he got ended up being worse than the last two combined.

Kazuya Fukuura, Jose Ortiz and Tomoya Satozaki homered for Lotte, Kanemura gave up 12 runs in 4 1/3 innings and the Marines pounded the Fighters 18-3 at Chiba Marine Stadium on a night when the Marines passed the 1 million mark in attendance for the season.
