ORLANDO, Fla. _ If there is any time of year when snakes aren't a worry in Florida, this should be it.
"Mid-summer is when snake activity decreases," said snake expert George VanHorn, owner of Reptile World Serpentarium in St. Cloud, Fla.
Somebody forgot to tell the snakes.
At least three people in central Florida have been bitten by venomous snakes in the last two weeks.
Blame it on the wet weather. Blame it on development in former wilderness. Blame it on humans who can't leave snakes alone.
More than likely, said VanHorn, it's a mixture of all those things.
