Aug. 6--It's a familiar sight in Western New York: a country road marked by a railroad crossing complete with warning signs and gates.
The difference is, this is one of several crossings in the area that is no longer used.
Located on Route 240 where Orchard Park borders the Town of Aurora, the railroad tracks are now just a bump in the road.
"This rail line has been abandoned for close to, if not more than, 10 years," Edward Sixt of West Falls wrote in an e-mail to The Buffalo News.
