The chain of Target retail stores is going the Blu-ray route. For high-definition DVD players, it will sell only the Sony BDP-S300 Blu-ray Disc player from October through the end-of the year. That means Target customers will not be able to buy HD DVD players from the likes of Toshiba.
"I think what you're seeing is that retailers are deciding," said David Bishop, president of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. "This is the beginning of a trend. Retailers are very impatient now.
