WILMINGTON, Del.--DuPont will increase the capacity of its Dacron polyester staple by 135 million pounds, the company's first capacity increase since 1974.
The capacity increase will bring the total production capability of Dacron to nearly one billion pounds annually.
Demand for polyester is increasing faster than any other fiber in spite of continued price hikes in raw materials used to produce polyester. The capacity expansion, says Rich Angiullo, vice president and general manager, DuPont Dacron, "is DuPont's way of staying abreast of this growing consumption."
