WASHINGTON _ For those who think that affirmative action has delivered a bounty to blacks in America, think again: White women are among the biggest beneficiaries, and even they have not gained that much.
That's what the analysts report, and it may be an eye-opener as the debate about affirmative action fires up in Washington and politicians attack what they describe as a generous system of breaks based on race.
As but one recent example, Majority Leader Robert Dole, R-Kan., took the Senate floor to attack affirmative action because ``the race-counting game has gone too far.''
But the reality is: Affirmative action is about gender more than race.
