ArvinMeritor Inc. CEO Chip McClure is urging automotive and manufacturing leaders to push harder in Washington for changes in health care.
Speaking here yesterday, McClure said total national health care expenditures in 2005 increased 6.9 percent - two times the rate of inflation - to $2 trillion.
"We're talking about the need for a societal change, and frankly, this industry has to drive it,'' he said. "This is a crisis not only for Detroit but for every industry in this country.''
