It looks as if Eugene voters in November will decide the fate of a controversial 3-cents-a-gallon city gas tax increase.
Rather than appeal an unfavorable court ruling, the City Council on Wednesday directed the staff to write a ballot measure that will give voters final say over the gas tax increase that the council passed three months ago.
The directive is a step toward a Nov. 6 special election to settle a battle between the city and local gas station owners over Eugene's latest gas tax increase.
Eugene's gas tax already is at 5 cents a gallon. The City Council in May approved the 3-cent ...
