AvtoVAZ plans to fire striking workers; trade union pushing for new actions

MOSCOW. Aug 13 (Interfax) - Executives at AvtoVAZ (RTS: AVAZ) have sent a draft order to the Yedinstvo (Unity) trade union for the dismissal of Anton Vichkunin, one of the workers who went on strike on August 1, head of the trade union Pyotr Zolotarev told Interfax.

The reason is that Vichkunin missed work between 11:45 am and 3:45 pm Togliatti time. During this period of time, the 45-2 workshop stopped work demanding an increase in wages to 25,000 rubles. Current salaries hover around 7,000-10,000 rubles, according to the trade union, and 15,300 rubles according to AvtoVAZ.
