Aug. 13--One of the most discussed, debated and often demonized countries today is Iran. True, much of the scorn is heaped upon its president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, but it can be difficult to separate a people from their president in the public's mind.
Growing up in this environment, and especially in the last few years since the war in Iraq, I've felt an instinctive need to defend Iran against criticisms, while doing my best to present the friendly face of Middle Eastern immigrants.
