Kansas City, Mo. -- Sportswriters knocked themselves out the final two weeks in July, chasing down leads on potential Twins deals because of the July 31 trade deadline.
Now it's August, but I'm still trying to pull off this David Caruso CSI-Twin Cities thing to see if GM Terry Ryan has anything up his sleeve. And fans, through e-mails and posts on Twins Insider, are full of trade proposals.
That's because deadlines in baseball aren't always absolute.
Deals can still be made, but a player must pass through waivers before being traded. I wasn't looking forward to getting to this point, because ...
