Aug. 14--Some Aqua Indiana customers can expect a financial jolt, because the utility announced Monday it would seek a rate increase that would double its customers' water and sewer bills.
"I realize it's a sticker shock," said Bill Etzler, vice president and regional manager for Aqua Indiana, who is a customer of the company and will see the rate increases in his own bills.
The utility has filed a petition with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission to increase water and sewer rates. It would be the company's first increase since 2002. The majority of the increase is necessary because of $30 million in capital ...
