Aug. 14--ALBANY -- A state appellate court panel has upheld a St. Lawrence County judge's ruling that the operator of an Ogdensburg cheese plant must repay $100,000 it borrowed from four north country dairy cooperatives.
In June 2006, state Supreme Court Judge David Demarest ordered St. Lawrence Food Corp., Ogdensburg; Ahava Food Corp., Brooklyn, and Lewis County Dairy Corp., Lowville -- all owned by Moise Banayan -- to repay Cape Vincent Milk Producers Cooperative, Maple City Bulk Milk Cooperative, Seaway Milk Producers and Northern New York Bulk Milk Producers Cooperatives the $100,000, no-interest loan the cooperatives made to St. Lawrence Foods.
