Aug. 16--American Airlines Inc. said Wednesday it is calling back 460 laid-off flight attendants, nearly a fourth of the 2,069 laid-off attendants still on its furlough list.
The employees who accept the offer will go back to work in November and December at the airline's bases in Boston, Chicago, New York or Washington.
It marks the second callback of flight attendants this year, after offers were sent to 200 flight attendants in early May. An American spokeswoman said the carrier was responding to its estimate of how many flight attendants it will need through the end of the year.
